The Oatmeal Man is Coming: 26 DAYS REMAIN….

I had the great opportunity to be in a movie with my friends a while back. Written by Jesse Gordon and directed by Sean Gordon The Oatmeal Man dropped Claude Foster, Nicole Kunz, Moira Dennis, and Krisondra Daigneault into a laugh out loud cheesy horromedy. (Horror/Comedy… you know… like Feast or The Stuff… )

Taking a page out of Kevin Smith’s book we got a bunch of friends together and had a great time making a movie! We are dropping this flick on July 1st of this year so head on over to our indiegogo to contribute and get your perks now!!

….

p.s. Here’s a trailer…..

We’ve all been there. Our roommate ate our last sandwich. Our buddy left to the concert without us. We got in the car and our mom left us with no gas. They told that story of how you farted in gym class to that hot girl at the party. Somebody put my Blu Rays back in non-alphabetical order and I can’t find Fight Club because it’s between Sin City and Star Wars.

They must die.

You must have justice.

They must pay the ultimate price.

Try it next time and let us know how it works.

We’re Taking Stop Motion Back

So the last time you thought you saw some awesome stop motion was one of the following:

1. Badass Ray Harryhausen monsters.

2. The OG King Kong.

3. The EPIC Rebel Defeat at the Battle of Hoth

But if you don’t know what a VHS is you might not be familiar with the ancient art of stop motion.

A relic of a forgotten age

You probably think the scene in Empire is just some old school CG or something stupid. Well guess what? IT’S NOT!! Someone built some badass AT-ATs and Tauntauns, shot them one frame at a time and painstakingly moved them through their actions!! (I’m guessing the current instant gratification generation is thinking “What does painstakingly mean?”) What if someone thought to do an AWESOME fight with stop motion. Someone with fighting skills. Someone who could actually do a cool fight instead of most of the stop motion crap adrift in the sea of mediocrity that is YouTube. Someone like… the EMC Monkeys. Well, then you might end up something you could enjoy watching! So here it is

…. enjoy watching!

Learn well young ones. Stop motion can be a thing of beauty… or hilarity.

So….

What’s your favorite stop motion moment?

The Battle of Hoth!!!!

Rest in Peace Ken Garcia

Yesterday the world lost a wonderful man by the name of Ken Garcia. You may recognize him from any number of his TV or movie appearances, you might know him from his Krav Maga classes, or maybe you have taken a few acting classes from his studio. I had the distinct pleasure of working with him on a number of projects and his work always impressed me. The first time I met him was in 2007 on the Wasteland production location. We rode in the bed of a truck doing 60 through the desert terrain then joked for a while about how close each bump got us more and more nervous about the lack of seat belts in truck beds. His great sense of humor and punctuality made sure that we had plenty more opportunities to catch up for every meeting, table-read, audition, or shoot day that I saw him at because we were usually the only ones there on time. I scored 2 movies that he was in and his performances never ceased to amaze and inspire me. I read with him at the Urgency audition that I felt he crushed and was then disappointed when the studio cast the part themselves. I listened every time his lines came up at a table read to hear how the lines carried weight with only the sound of his voice. He always offered to buy me a drink whenever we were at any outing. The last time I saw him was at the Wasteland DVD signing where we spent most of our time joking and laughing with each other.  Well in case you’re listening KG:

Yup, that’s us in the background.

This is the only pic I could find of us together. Oddly enough I think this was the last time I saw you. As punctual people we spent a lot of time chilling before everyone else got there. It was great to know you as an inspiration, teacher, peer, and most importantly as a friend. You never let anything stand in your way and accomplished more than most people ever will. Your talent, skill, ambition, determination, and hunger for life was something we could all learn from. I already miss you and can’t wait to hang and chat it up again… while we wait for everyone else. All my condolences to everyone else whose lives you touched. I know they all miss you as much as I do.

I scored this for your scene in Wasteland and I think it is a beautiful song for a great performance. Have a listen and we all miss you.
