ShayStrong Forever

It’s been a crazy 2014 so far and I promised to keep updating but still find myself falling behind. I think better late than never to write about one of the most influential people I’ve ever had the opportunity and honor to meet.

004-Youngling Lizzy and Shay

Her name is Shay. She is a five year old girl who loves Star Wars (most importantly), Disney Princesses, Justin Beiber, and One Direction.

She is also the strongest warrior I’ve ever met.

She battled against brain cancer and never gave up. Continue reading

2013, Jedi, Wishes, Ninjas, Nintendo, The Dark Knight, and Training

So during this last quarter I think I’ve been pretty busy all things considered. Between Saber Guild appearances, EMC shoots, training, and music I’d say this has been a pretty good year! So instead of bombarding your feed with 37 catch up posts I think I’ll just go for the SuperMegaPOST (patent pending) and hit you with all kinds of goodness right NOW!!

Saber Guild appearances and shows went great this past few months. I’m actually starting to get recognized as Quinlan Vos now and every time my wife hits a show she gets bombarded with pic requests! We had a great time at Nuke the Fridge Con, Long Beach Comic Con, and of course a legendary Make a Wish Foundation event.

The Make a Wish event was one of the greatest things I’ve ever had the privilege and honor to be a part of. Benton is a young boy who wished to become a Jedi Knight and defeat Darth Vader. Together with the 501st and the Rebel Legion we were able to make his wish come true in a full day of Jedi training and a SECOND day of battle in which he accomplished his wish and defeated Darth Vader himself.

Watch a wish come true here:

Working with the EMC Monkeys has been one of the things I’m most proud of. Every single one of them is amazingly skilled and training with them gives me so much insight to my own skills. I’ve been training hard and trying to move my own skills into their realm and I plan on keeping it up! We’ve been pretty busy lately with great stuff like this:

And This:

And of Course This:

This year I also had the chance to work with Machinima on a really cool Dark Knight video that became so successful it succeeded in getting a cease and desist letter from Warner bros! Watch the vid here:

This was GREAT fun to be a part of but I also got the chance to work with some REALLY cool people from one of my FAVORITE WEB SERIES’ EVER!!!

I hope to make 2014 just as productive and hopefully up the intensity even more!! I plan on new music more videos and more Jedi appearances so hope to see you all there!!

May the Force be with you

P.S. ….. We got a WiiU for Xmas! Hells yeah Wind Waker!! Anybody who wants to play games look for me on Miiverse as PeralesClan and I’m on PSN as ShadowBlkDgn

May the 4th at Phat Collectibles

Master Vos hasn't quite moved his troops to Boz Pity yet.

Master Vos hasn’t quite moved his troops to Boz Pity yet.

If you’re a Star Wars fan then May the 4th should be a circled day in your calendar. Whether you celebrate it by Watching the Saga straight through, playing some LEGO Star Wars, reading some graphic novels, watching some Robot Chicken specials, bringing your action figure collection to a friends house to make bigger scenes, making Yoda pancakes, catching up on your X-Wing books, or listening to some Fan Fiction audio books, this is a day for all of us. This year however we got a double whammy because May the 4th was also Free Comic Book Day!! So not only could we do all the aforementioned activities but we could journey to our local comic shop and pick up some books on the house!!

Well this year was a hat trick for me. My wife and I recently joined up with the Saber Guild, a charity organization that raises money by dressing up as Lightsaber wielders and performing fights!! We were invited to Phat Collectibles by our sister organization The Dark Empire to troop for Free Comic Book Day and troop we did!

FREE!!!!

FREE!!!!

As my first event with this organization I had a great time. Taking pictures with kids and hanging with fellow Jedi is a great way for my May the 4th to go! Darth Vader made an appearance and Liz’s Aayla was very popular with the fans. I can’t wait for the next event where we’ll actually be doing a show! In the meantime check out the gallery and don’t forget to visit the links at the bottom! Joining up is a great way to becoming part of a larger world and becoming a real hero.

Comic Con Achieved

For 20 years or so I had a dream. A 10 year old me would read Wolverine comics and Wizard magazines in the distant land of San Antonio, Texas awestruck by images and thoughts of a wonderful far off paradise called San Diego Comic Con. Although it’s changed quite a bit in the last 20 years (for one thing back then the main draw of Comic Con was actual comics) at it’s core it still retains the nerdgasm magic that made me want journey to this distant place so long ago. So here I am, a 31 year old man who finally got to go on this pilgrimage. A great friend of mine Lucas Culshaw called me up and invited me out and I jumped at the offer. Although he’s been going regularly for years we still both relish the opportunity for adventure so we jumped the trains and rode south. After battling ignorant train station employees, lazy anti-workout security guards, brain addled Skywalker drug dealers, and Retarded yellow attack bears, we arrived. As I set foot upon this hallowed ground the 10 year old inside me screamed in victory. From Star Wars to Ninja Turtles, from Cosplay to Artist’s Alley, every moment was well worth the journey. Here’s a few pics from my virgin visit and I hope to return again…. Because I still need to find some bad ass Mandalorians.
